 Directions to Richard's Hollow:

On the 4th of July, my family and I went on the Richard's Hollow Trail loop.  This wonderful trail is located in Blacksmith Fork Canyon near Logan, Utah. To get to the trailhead, you have to go up Blacksmith Fork Canyon till you come across the Left Fork canyon sign. You will then need to turn left and continue till you reach Friendship Camp, about ten miles from the turnoff. (Note: it is a gravel road up Left Fork Canyon) There will be a sign reading, Richard's Hollow Trail around Friendship Camp.  There are bathrooms and parking available.

From the Parking Area, you can continue to the trailhead sign, and start up the trail. Watch for pretty wildflowers and keep a lookout for snakes! We had hikers warn us about a rattlesnake that they had seen,  but we were able to go through the whole hike without seeing one. Also, check at the weather!! We went on this hike thinking it was going to just be cloudy, but it rained on us and made the trail slick!

The Trail to Richard's Hollow Waterfall:

My family and I didn't want to hike the entire 14-mile loop, we only wanted to hike to Richard's Hollow waterfall... The round trip was 3.7 miles, to the waterfall and back. There were three places on the trail where you had to cross the river, there are logs placed to help cross.  The first part of the hike is made up of the river crossings and walking up small hills. This part of the trail is the flattest part of the trail and has medium to a lot of shade. The second part of the trail is made up of switchbacks. This part is uphill and has plenty of shade. There is also a cool throne made of rocks, which is a cool photo-op.

Once you are able to see the waterfall, you will also see that it is down to the left of the trail. Keep going till you reach the second switchback. After you make the second turn of the switchbacks travel till you see a trail traveling down the hill from the main trail, this is how you reach the waterfall. The trail going down to the waterfall is steep, and you have to step over a big log.

Down by the river, there are rocks that are slick from the river and moss so please be cautious. This hike was great rain and all. I give this hike five out of five stars.
